P - Pekoe: the word stands for the still young, tender leaves of the tea plant (from the Chinese: ´white pubescence´).
OP
– Orange Pekoe. The standard Ceylon and Java tea. Partially long and wiry leaf. Orange refers to Dutch word ´Oranje´ which is meant as ´royally´.
OP Sup. – Orange Pekoe Superior. Tippy, only from Indonesia.
FOP – Flowery Orange Pekoe. Mostly, the simple Indian leaf-teas.
GFOP – Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe. Top level of the tea from Kenya.
TGFOP – Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe. Main degree in Darjeeling and Assam.
FTGFOP1
– Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe 1. Mainly Darjeeling, partially also Assam. Even leaf assortment, tippy.
SFTGFOP – Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe 1. The highest gradation.
Tippy/Tip – Designate the bright parts of the tea (leaf heads), which do not darken during the extraction.
B - Broken. The English description of the broken, little leaves of tea. i.e. BOP Broken Orange Pekoe. |
